Vertical cutting track cutter capable of cutting rails already set in place.
Ideal for trimming flexi-track to the correct length to fit between existing tracks or points.
Quicker than a razor saw, but not betterBy: Keith on 8 December 2012Having heard the praises sung loudly over the years for Xuron track cutters, I finally decide to purchase one. While the tool works, I wouldn't classify it as life-changing! The patented micro-shear works well for one side of the cut (facing the "flat" side of the cutter) but the other side of the cut rail is still "pinched". No problem really, as you just reverse the cutter and make a second cut if you want to use the rail, but I have been used to cutting with a razor saw which leaves a clean face on both sides of the cut rail. Also, the end of the cut rail isn't perfectly flat and (for N scale rail) I still dress the end of the cut with a file. All said and done, though, a timesaver and worth it if you have a lot of rail to cut.
