The Best Way to Clamp Ship Model Planks

These all-metal planking clamps hold ship model planks tight against the bulkhead until glue dries. The unique stepped clamp design holds the plank against its full surface so you'll get neater, tighter fitting joints, and the knurled metal finger grip makes turning a lot easier. The micro-size wood screw is cast into the finger grip and will hold in bulkheads as thin as 3.2mm.

I've built a few plank-on-bulkhead ship models and just gotten by -- until I came across these beauties. Frankly, I don't know how I ever got along without them. The knurled grip on the in the screw make them next to almost impossible to drop; The clamp portion is reversible for places where it's difficult to fit the straight clamp which normally butts against the plank. Even used on its own, the knurled screw allow users to tightly butt planks against each other. All in all, the best friend of the model ship builder! Oh, and Hoby Tools Australia sells the in 10 piece packs (5 complete clamps) at a very reasonable price fro what you get out of these little beauties!

Works well, takes a bit of fiddling but OK. Holda planks in postion well.

The clamps worked well, I'm using 5mm marine play for the frames and they hold well. The only downside is the clamping plates buckle fairly easily as they are made of soft metal - steel would be much better.
